Artist Statement
The earth does not belong to us; we belong to the earth.
I'm a rural Wisconsin based artist. A lifelong love of nature is what sparked my passion for painting the great outdoors. I mostly work with acrylics, as I enjoy the vibrant colors, quick dry time, and layering process.
I'm primarily self-taught, with a foundation built through an eight-week drawing class at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, a lot of library books, countless YouTube tutorials, and an endless supply of determination. Many Lake Michigan rocks gave their free canvas, and, of course, there’s been no substitute for good old-fashioned practice, practice, practice.
I find immense joy in capturing nature’s grandeur on a one-dimensional surface—a rewarding challenge that continually pushes me as an artist. I’m particularly drawn to creating large-scale pieces, which allow me to fully immerse myself in the process. When my paintings are finished, parting with them often feels like saying goodbye to a dear friend.
My hope is that my art inspires viewers to see our planet as a living, breathing spaceship, reminding us all to better care for our one and only home.
Thank you for your interest in my work.
